What is the difference between service marketing process and product marketing process?
A service marketing process differs from the traditional product marketing process in that the nature of services is very different from that of products. Services are intangible, meaning they cannot be held or examined prior to use, they are inseparable, meaning the service cannot be separated from the service provider, and they cannot be "made in advance" of demand. Thus, marketers not only want to stimulate demand for services, but they may want to influence when services are consumed. If the service provider cannot meet the needs of their customers because they are simply to busy to do so, that means a loss of revenue that can never again be captured. Services are more dependent on brand reputation than products are because they are totally dependent on the service provider, though, as they say in finance, "past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results."
